Gum Disease

Gum disease is one of the most common problems adults face and can begin at just about any age.

Some risk factors include smoking, pregnancy, puberty, stress, teeth grinding, poor nutrition, diabetes, and poor oral hygiene. When gum disease persists, it destroys soft tissue, breaking down the relationship between the teeth and supporting gums and if not treated early enough, can cause irreversible loss of bone surrounding the teeth.

In it's advanced stage, it may cause loss of teeth.

Signs that you may have gum disease include:

  • red, swollen or tender gums
  • bad breath that will not go away
  • taste of metal in your mouth
  • sensitive teeth
